Common Hairstyles of the 1960's
The "Flip" hairstyle as shown above was used as a commonly used fashion trend. People would use there fingers and a ton of hairspray to get the flip to be a success. They would put there fingers at the end of their hair and twirl it around and then spray it with hairspray for a tight hold. This would take a lot of time and effort but most people would do it anyways. We have many other tools today that make the process of something like this a whole lot faster and easier. The "Beehive" hairstyle as shown at the left, was also a commonly used hairstyle throughout the 1960's. It was practically just a bump on the top of your head. People would pull up strands of hair in the front of your head and tease them. Then they would take the remaining amount of hair and pull it over to the back of their head. Then, for the final step, if they had short hair, they would pin the remaining strands of hair to the back of their head.
